Gala Banner

"Stella Maris", Latin for "Star of the Sea" is an ancient and beloved title for Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Like the stars for the sailors at sea, Mary guides us to the safe harbour of her Son.

Under the patronage of Our Lady, we are truly blessed to celebrate 35 years of Catholic education at Star of the Sea.  From our humble beginnings at Star of the Sea Centre with 20 students enrolled (1981), to the building of Star of the Sea School in our current location (1985), and to our new enhanced building with Fine Arts Room and Library (2010) that today holds 450 students, our school's success is marked by the collaborative efforts, hardwork and great sacrifices by many, many people.

Stella Maris Gala is our parish's annual fall event to celebrate our past, present and future.  It is a night to honour those who began the dream of Catholic education for our children and those who followed, continuing the work of "Building and Bonding".  This spectacular fundraising event is attended by over 300 guests and volunteers and includes a champagne reception and Hors d'oeuvres, exciting live and silent auctions, fine dining and lively dancing.
